Manchester United have their man, but Crystal Palace have a small consolation as well. Wilfried Zaha will officially make his move to Manchester United this summer, not during this transfer window – as the attacking midfielder has signed a 5 and a half year deal with the Premier League leaders.
We spoke about Ian Holloway’s disappointment in Zaha leaving just one week ago, and it looks like the deal is now done. But Holloway will be happy that Zaha can remain with Crystal Palace as they make their promotion run through the end of the season. Who knows – perhaps Zaha will get to face his old team in the Premier League next season? Holloway would love that.
The 20 year old Zaha can play as a winger or a striker, but with the striking department full at Old Trafford (RVP, Rooney, Welbeck, Hernandez) he most certainly looks like he will compete with the likes of Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young, and Nani (if he’s still around) on the flanks.
What that means for fantasy managers is still a major unknown as summer has yet to arrive – but rotation could remain on the cards in midfield areas for Sir Alex’s men – as it has been over the last 18 months – thus denting the fantasy prospects of the aforementioned current trio and Zaha himself as well. Unless of course, a player or two goes down to injury. Ashley Young is currently out of action for about a month with a knee injury.
Zaha has been compared to Theo Walcott – and if he can come up with performances and fantasy returns even close to the one that Theo provided us fantasy managers this past week, there should be lots of smiles to come in future FPL seasons.
