Liverpool have a striker crisis after a 2-0 home loss to Arsenal yesterday, whilst West Ham are looking upwards and onwards, despite striker Andy Carroll’s hamstring injury in their 3-0 win over Fulham on Saturday.
One club in crisis, the other blowing bubbles.
Despite Carroll’s hamstring injury [which could keep him out of action for 4-6 weeks], Liverpool may still recall the striker from his season long loan to West Ham after the club failed to bring in an adequate replacement on Transfer Deadline Day Friday night. Clint Dempsey went to Tottenham in the end, and other than Luis Suarez and Fabio Borini, Liverpool don’t have any recognized senior strikers in the squad.
I hear Michael Owen is available.

FA rules state that a loaned player cannot be recalled outside of the transfer periods when a loan fee has been paid to the club. Meaning the earliest he can be recalled is January, which is unlikely as I would imagine the club would instead sign a striker that will fit into Rodgers footballing philosophy.
It is no good hiding behind UEFA financial fair play.
It is not realistic to imagine matching spenders (like Chelsea, Man City and Man U) on quality and silverware / or attracting quality players with mere eloquent talk and open letters to fans.
For now, it is hard for LFC to even rise above the likes of New Castle and Tettenham. At the current rate, Champions League qualification can only be a fairy tale – but LFC should be able to finish among the top ten !!
