To start off the 2012-2013 Premier League season, we figured why not select Aston Villa’s Darren Bent – the ultimate Funny Feeling.
With all of the talk about strikers centered around Aguero, Tevez, Torres, Rooney, and RVP, most fantasy managers have largely ignored even discussing the Aston Villa striker – a man who scored 24 league goals in 2009-2010 and 17 league goals in 2010-2011. Doesn’t get much better than that.
But Bent is only selected by about 2.5% of fantasy managers. 2.5% of fantasy managers! By comparison, the similarly priced Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko is owned by 3.5% of managers. Danny Welbeck? Over 3%. Will Dzeko or Welbeck ever even see the pitch? Ludicrous.
Aston Villa do have a kit clash of a matchup at West Ham to open the season, but Bent will cause problems for Sam Allardyce’s back four, and if anyone can break through, it’s him.
So there you have it. Sure, he’s on the road and coming back from quite a long term injury. Yup, he’s only owned by about 2% of fantasy managers. He’s not the ‘sexy’ name to start the season. But he’s Darren Bent, guys. A Proven Premier League goalscorer priced very fairly at 8.5m.
A goal or assist in London for the 28 year old former stud this weekend? We sure think so.
Darren Bent, your first 2012-2013 Fantasy Premier League Funny Feeling Friday.
Good luck to all fantasy managers this weekend.

It’s a good call yeah. I won’t be drafting him in just yet, but he could live up to his price if Lambert will be playing as attacking as with Norwich.
Good shout. With all the focus on the big boys the real value this season could be had in medium priced forwards such as Bent, Ba, or Borini.
… or Tevez
Yup. If he’ll be anywhere near his form 10/11 his price will look ridiculous.
You lost me at “kit clash”. No…just…no.
Funny you mentioned Rodallega in the other article without ANY mention of Ruiz…
Predict lots of 6.0 to 6.0 moves from Petric to Ruiz. I don’t even think Hugo is fit.
there’s better strikers who have easier games. chelsea and reading have two games.
The whole point of FFF is to pick an under the radar/ out of favor/ unexpected player to score, hence Bent and not someone from Chelsea.
well he didn’t score.
also, picking a reading striker would have been better as they have 2 games.
