Tottenham Sign Former Swansea Star Gylfi Sigurdsson

Gylfi Sigurdsson Tottenham Sign Former Swansea Star Gylfi Sigurdsson

We haven’t had tons of movement in the transfer market this summer – but news from London today is pretty massive. Andre Villas-Boas, Tottenham’s new manager, has made his first signing and it’s a name we all know quite well - Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Sigurdsson was on loan at Swansea from Hoffenheim this past season and was one of the highest scoring midfielders in the Fantasy Premier League game. Statistically, he was brilliant. Surprisingly, former Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers didn’t snap him up when he moved to Liverpool, so to Tottenham he goes.

What does this mean for Luka Modric’s future? Or for Rafael Van der Vaart’s statistical production? Who will hog set pieces and corners now that Gylfi is in town?

A superb signing for Tottenham, if they can manage to keep hold of Modric as well. A midfield that includes Gareth Bale, VDV, Sigurdsson and Modric looks like one intent on winning games 5-4. OK, let’s give Scott Parker a bit more credit and say 5-3. Either way, the new Icelandic signing should be a great addition.
