Tim Cahill to New York: What was David Moyes Thinking?

Tim Cahill to New York: What was David Moyes Thinking?

He's only 32 years old. What am I missing here?

Tim Cahill is moving to the NY Red Bulls for 1 million pounds. 1 million pounds.

You read that correctly. The 32 year old Everton stud is on his way to the MLS.

We’ll miss you playing as an out of position second striker but classified as a midfielder in the official Fantasy Premier League, Tim.

Some will miss your corner flag boxing celebration. I won’t, but good luck to you nonetheless.

And if David Moyes thinks he can re-invest that £1 million and get a player even 1/2 as influential as Tim Cahill, than he must be flat out nuts. Sure, Cahill is getting older, and sure, it seemed like he wanted to go – but £1 million! Peanuts for a player who has scored 68 times for his club and has been the attacking face of that club for the last 8 years since he joined from Milwall.

Good luck to Tim Cahill in MLS. A great Premier League footballer, brave in the air, and by all accounts, a good teammate too. What a bargain for the MLS.

I think it’s not so much about the transfer fee here, but the wage space it opens up. I don’t know what he was making, but it was probably a bunch. For a club like Everton a little breathing room can go a long way.

      +1

Also Pienaar is better in the same position. Cahill was once good, but lost his motivation through the injuries.
