Italy and Spain to Decide Euro 2012, Not much PL Representation

Italy and Spain to Decide Euro 2012, Not much PL Representation

Balotelli takes on Spain on Sunday

Why Always Me? Balotelli took Italy past Germany and Spain outlasted Portugal so we’re all set for Sunday. What a weekend we have to look forward to.

Every one of our readers who has tweeted @NickyButt and @SoccerPro or written in to us over the course of the month has been placed in one massive spreadsheet and we’ve randomly selected a winner each stage of the Euro 2012 competition. Our latest winner is Mark. 3 down, 1 to go. So if you want a chance at the last winning jersey, send us a tweet by Sunday at kickoff.

Thank you very much to SoccerPro for providing the winners with new kit.

Now let’s get to the final. Spain are gunning for a 3rd straight major title – which would certainly put them up there as one of if not the greatest international team ever assembled. Italy are looking to restore their scandal-hit reputation.

While Mario Balotelli was the hero against Germany, there has actually been very little Premier League representation amongst Europe’s elite. The league we all love actually only had 5 players see action in the semifinals stage out of a possible 92 players from the 4 countries represented. 5 Premier League players. That’s it. Yup, Super Mario’s star perhaps shone the brightest, but ‘the greatest league in the world’ didn’t have much more than that to boast about.

So, who will take it all on Sunday? Will Spain start with a striker? Fernando Torres back from the dead? Or Fabregas up front in a 4-6-0? Balotelli and Cassano will surely look to repeat their performances once again. It could go either way… Let us know who you think will take the title by tweeting us @NickyButt or leaving us a note in the comments.

Good luck to all of our blog readers from Spain & Italy.
