Fantasy Premier League Dream Team: 2011-2012

Premier League Best XI Fantasy Premier League Dream Team: 2011 2012

The Premier League season is over, and it’s time to turn our attention to the Champions League, and subsequently the Euro 2012 competition.

But before we look further forward, let’s take a brief glance back at the season’s top performers.

Pictured above is this year’s “Dream Team.” You can’t really complain if you owned a majority of these guys throughout the 38 week campaign. RVP, of course, had a Cristiano Ronaldo-esque season and finished on 269 total points.

Kyle Walker quietly impressed and sneaked into the Dream Team as a moderately priced defender with his 140 points. His durability for Harry Redknapp at right back warrants inclusion and allowed him to soak up the additional points necessary to join the star-studded names (Hart, Kompany, etc.) above.

A mention should certainly go to American Clint Dempsey – with his 209 points – he finished the season as the highest scoring midfielder.

No Gerrard. No Lampard. No Torres. No Drogba. No Nani. No Van der Vaart.

Honorable mention must surely go to those who performed well in their price brackets – or for short stretches of the season (Jelavic and Cisse up front since January, for example, were absolutely brilliant), but no one can argue with the immense returns of the aforementioned pictured XI.

Kudos to you RVP. We knew it was coming back in 2008 and 2009 when we predicted it by labeling you ‘the Next Ronaldo’… but sometimes it just takes us 3-4 years for you to finally get over the fact that the bones in your legs are made of tissue paper.
