Funny Feeling Friday: David N’Gog

NGOG Funny Feeling Friday: David NGog

The former Liverpool man has failed to fire at Bolton

Bolton have yet to win at home in the league. Yup, you read that right. They are winless at home. They’ve lost 13 of their last 15 league games. 13 of 15! Losses!

But we’re still backing them to pull off an unlikely victory (or at least snatch a draw) at home to Stoke this weekend. And while we’ve spoken quite a bit about the great potential of midfielders Chris Eagles and Martin Petrov on the blog as well as on Twitter over the past month, we’ve yet to take a look at Bolton’s assets up front. So let’s dive in and choose the cheapest of the bunch – David N’Gog.

The former Liverpool reserve team player has only 1 goal this season and is owned by less than 1% of fantasy managers. 0.3% to be exact. Bolton haven’t been creating many chances. And his place is under threat by the likes of Ivan Klasnic. That’s the bad news.

The good news? He comes in priced at just 5.4M, which, as a 3rd striker acquisition, could free up funds for fantasy managers to bring in the likes of RVP or Aguero this weekend for their (expected) big performances. N’Gog could be an integral piece in that squad re-alignment. But what about his value on the pitch?

He did manage 5 goals and 3 assists two seasons ago in just 1,000 minutes for Liverpool. Extrapolated to a full season that’s 15 goals. Solid. And Bolton take on Stoke and West Brom in their next two fixtures. Potential…

While I’d have liked to have chosen Davies (more conservative) or Klasnic (riskier but with a proven track record of scoring at Bolton) for the FFF selection this week, they are a bit more of “household” names, and owned by 5% and 4% of fantasy managers, respectively.

N’Gog, on the other hand, was a laughingstock reserve at Liverpool who finally has a chance to start his Premier League career (he’s only 22) out of the spotlight and as a focal point in a struggling Bolton side. Why not this weekend against the usually resolute but perhaps tired from their Europa League travels Stoke?

Let’s take a punt on the young Frenchman. His starting spot is under threat from Klasnic but what’s life without risk: N’Gog for a goal or assist against Stoke.

Your Funny Feeling Friday.

Good luck to all managers.

First of all, yall are trippin, secondly…isn´t he Dutch? And third, is he slower than Chamakh? Which should tell you all you need to know…not seeing any substantial changes enough to even warrant a dip into Chris Eagles…I was close but Coyle seems to have head faked on the actual changes that brought them a semblance of danger…by giving the Ricardo Gardner´s the chance. Unselfish players that would actually give Eagles and Rio Coker service, to create. Gardner went and got suspended and Eagles may still be due, but you pick N´Gog?? Will be more to come on here and personally apologize if I´m wrong and he blowuptuates…but can´t see it happen. A betterone would have been on a Welbeck as a legit punt for this weekend. Playing Sunderland. We´ll let that sink with irony aspect…
