Wayne Rooney’s surprise hamstring injury forced him to miss last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Stoke. And with Manchester United’s form dipping again in midweek (a 3-3 draw at home in the Champions League with competition minnows Basel), supporters and Fantasy Premier League managers alike are searching for answers.
When will Wayne Rooney return to action? Will Rooney play against Norwich? Will he be out for ‘a few weeks’ as originally estimated?
There have been no official updates from Manchester United on the injury, but when we find out, you will be the first to know. If he’s out – managers may be tempted by the cheaper Balotelli or Sturridge this weekend – facing off against the weak Blackburn and Bolton respectively. Or the pricier but proven alternatives Aguero and Drogba, who could also feature. Adebayor is also a big time option at home against his former club Arsenal – who are in a defensive injury crisis, while Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck could be superb picks as well to replace Rooney and may actually be the best selections of the bunch.
At this point, it looks likely that Hernandez and Welbeck will run rampant at Old Trafford against Norwich, but if anything changes, we’ll make sure you are abreast. We’ve got your back in #RooneyGate.
Good luck to all fantasy managers.

This is killing me. I’m so tempted to sell Rooney for RvP, given the injury and RvP’s easy fixtures after the international break.
I have a sneaky feeling Rooney may still make this.. I’ll keep monitoring the news but if he trains tomorrow, all those managers who drop him could be kicking themselves after he bags a brace against Norwich in an hour of action… HOLD until further injury news.
Great advice. Ferguson just declared Hernandez and Rooney fit for the weekend game: http://www.manutd.com/en/Fanzone/News-And-Blogs/2011/Sep/Today-at-Old-Trafford.aspx
Glad I didn’t sell. Thanks for the help.
Question now is, will he start? If he starts, will he play more than 45 minutes?
