Midweek Musings: Owen Hargreaves on Target, Carling Cup

  • Owen Hargreaves on target for Manchester City in their 2-0 Carling Cup win
  • Michael Owen scored a couple in Manchester United’s victory at Leeds
  • It took Chelsea penalty kicks but they scraped by Fulham, losing defender Alex to a red card and up and coming striker (and former Funny Feeling Friday) Daniel Sturridge to a slight knee injury in the process…
  • Liverpool did what they had to do – a win over Brighton through Bellamy and Kuyt, with Gerrard seeing his first action of the season through a brief substitute appearance…
  • Phil Neville scored only his 10th goal in 16 years as a professional as Everton beat West Brom 2-1 in extra time… For the Baggies Chris Brunt (6M in the Fantasy Premier League) scored a penalty with both Odemwingie AND Dorrans on the pitch – which means Brunt is #1 taker
  • Yossi Benayoun scored his first goal for Arsenal in a 3-1 win
  • Tottenham Hotspur are the losers – out of the cup at Stoke
  • Aston Villa also lose – out of the cup at home to Bolton

Just a quick rapid-fire round-up of some major Carling Cup story lines. Looking forward to a return to the Premier League this weekend…
