Funny Feeling Friday: Daniel Sturridge

Daniel Sturridge 001 Funny Feeling Friday: Daniel Sturridge

Bolton's best player in 2011 actually plays for Chelsea

Three Funny Feeling Fridays down, 35 to go. We’re 3-for-3 this season in “calling it,” as Andy Johnson (5), Gabriel Agbonlahor (10), and Hugo Rodallega (7) produced the goods against all odds and against any ownership / interest levels from fantasy managers, so let’s try our luck again…

Another striker to start the month of September off, it’s Danny Sturridge of Chelsea. Sturridge is owned by 0% of fantasy managers and not even guaranteed a start this weekend at Sunderland, but we’ll take our chances. Why?

Because his form at the end of last season for Bolton and in pre-season was sensational. Because Fernando Torres is out of form. Didier Drogba is injured. Perhaps Sturridge gets a run-out? Maybe in place of Anelka or Malouda? Will he flank Torres on one side with Mata on the other? Who knows…

At 6.5M, it could be worth the risk.

I really don’t know if he’ll even get off the bench for this one with the likes of Mata, Anelka, Malouda, and Torres all pushing for starts so it’s certainly just a gut instinct, but hell, that’s the point of the column then isn’t it? A ‘Funny Feeling.’

Sturridge it is. A goal on the road against Sunderland this week and some playing time. An improbable feat but let’s take our chances…

Good luck to all fantasy managers.

Well remembered…on the subject what are your thoughts on Ngog to Bolton? Owen Coyle has the habbit of making youngsters into men (;ack wilshier and sturridge, for example), I know Ngog’s no youngster but do you thing he can be a good bet?
From what I remember whenever Ngog played he scored…

    Cheers

Good luck again. I seem to remember promising you a drink if you hit your Rodallega prediction. So, collect any time you want.

If Villas-Boas goes for a younger and quicker side this season we could see more involvement from Sturridge, Mata, and Torres. Sturridge is one to watch out for.
