Think of this as a Funny Feeling Friday column “Part II,” with a bit of musings going into the weekend…
- TEVEZ – Stripped (officially) of the club captaincy, he will have a point to prove and could outscore Dzeko and Aguero – two more popular fantasy options… He’s 11.9M and owned by less than 1% of fantasy managers but don’t bet against him scoring against Wigan if he gets 60+ minutes. Could be the surprise of the weekend.
- ADEBAYOR – We discussed the threat of Tottenham players a few days ago and Adebayor is a proven Premier League scorer. No room for him in our weekly picks this time around (at Wolves) but again a great sleeper pick. Like Tevez, only owned by 1% of fantasy managers. Your rivals won’t have him! He’s only 8M and despite tough fixtures, can score against anyone. Should partner Defoe up front and receive great service from Modric / Parker. A double on his debut at Wolves or am I dreaming?
- HERNANDEZ – Hasn’t scored yet this season but could against Bolton. 10M and none of your mini-league competitors own him, that’s for sure. Rooney of course is the hot commodity at 2.1M more but Hernandez is a classic poacher and will get his 12-15 league goals this season as long as he stays fit – you can be SURE of it.
- New QPR Assets – Barton (5.9M) and SWP (6.4M) are proven Premier League veterans and former England internationals. If QPR beats Newcastle on Monday, they will surely play a big part in the win. Barton is owned by 6% of fantasy managers but SWP is only owned by 1% of managers. Keep an eye on him as he could deliver…
- AMAZING FOOTIE DEAL: To all of you footie players or supporters out there SoccerStop has some amazing items on clearance (ADIDAS balls for $10, replica jerseys for $30 or less, etc.) as well as a bunch of great footwear, apparel and accessories. To sweeten the deal the site currently has a promo code for an additional 10% off the already low prices. Use the code NEVCAPT11 for the additional discount on all items in the shop. It expires on October 7th, 2011.
Good luck to all fantasy managers this weekend and happy shopping.
