Our Funny Feeling Friday this weekend is Aston Villa’s Gabriel Agbonlahor. Last week, we went with another cheaply priced forward – Andy Johnson at Fulham – and the 5.5M rated forward did not disappoint. Though he was only owned by 2% of fantasy players, and Fulham failed to score, Johnson was rated the best attacking player on the pitch – from either team – and finished the match with all 3 bonus points, and a respectable gameweek score of 5. We’ll take that…
But on to Agbonlahor. Like Johnson, Agbonlahor has loads of Premier League experience under his belt, but also like Johnson, he’s overshadowed by an England international as his strike partner (Bent in this case and Zamora last week).
That said, the Villa man comes in priced in the Fantasy Premier League game at just 6.5M – much cheaper than the days he started the season priced in the 7.5M – 9M range, and with Aston Villa taking on Blackburn at home this week and Wolves next week, Agbonlahor could combine with the likes of Bent and N’Zogbia to score or assist on a few goals.
However, there is a major “question mark” hanging over the head of Agbonlahor and other Villa attacking representatives. That question mark is new boss Alex McLeish’s playing style – which has historically been very defensive. If Aston Villa can somehow break out of that 1-0 or 2-1 style McLeish was famous for at Birmingham, than Agbonlahor and company can really shine.
There you have it. Perhaps opposing defenders will focus on stopping N’Zogbia and Bent – attracting all the attention whilst leaving Agbonlahor unmarked at the back post for a game-winner?
Your Funny Feeling Friday. Gabby Agbonlahor.

Good choice – I like it.
If I may suggest Kenwyne Jones as my strange Saturday choice. The same price at £6.5m and looked very sharp against Chelsea. He’s big, strong and is playing against a Norwich defense that has yet to be tested by anything more forceful than Wigan.
It’s just a thought…
how do you do it? amazing.

Excellent choice once again. You are two for two this season. If you get three for three I’m paypaling you a drink.
