Luka Modric vs Daniel Levy: Will the Croat Join Chelsea?

Luka Modric 1024x819 Luka Modric vs Daniel Levy: Will the Croat Join Chelsea?

Not the best looking footballer in the world but he has a sublime touch

Luka Modric and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy are on a collision course. According to Modric, Levy broke a “gentlemen’s agreement” to allow him to leave Tottenham if an offer from a bigger club came in.

Chelsea have made an offer for the Croatian superstar this summer (and Manchester United are reportedly interested as well) but the 25-year old has been told that he isn’t going anywhere.

With 5 years left on his contract, and Tottenham with Champions League qualification ambitions, who can really blame Levy and Redknapp for wanting to keep their star playmaker from leaving? The likes of Van der Vaart, Bale, Lennon, Michael Dawson, Brad Friedel, the growing Sandro, Danny Rose and others puts a great nucleus at Levy and Redknapp’s disposal and the loss of Modric would be crippling – to say the least.

But the Croatian plans to force through a move to Chelsea this summer and his recent words have been combative.. more-so perhaps than even Cesc Fabregas’ words have been in the past about joining Barcelona. So – who has the leverage? Will Fantasy Premier League managers see Modric switch to the blue side of London or will Tottenham somehow, some way manage to hold on to their star?

An interesting few weeks are ahead of us.
