Unsurprisingly, Manchester City and their limitless bank account have moved into pole position to sign Udinese’s Alexis Sanchez despite a late charge today from city rivals Manchester United.
Internazionale, Juventus, and Barcelona are also interested in the 22 year old Chilean - generally used on the right wing but who is also deployed as a forward, left winger or central attacking midfielder.
It was only a few summers ago that City began their spending spree and conquest for Champions League football – and now that they have achieved that initial goal, it looks like their relentless pursuit of Europe’s top young stars is still in full effect – as they look to pip United to the finish line in this case and sign Sanchez within the coming hours.
Sanchez scored 12 goals in the league for Udinese this past season and his style of play has been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo - both obtaining exceptional dribbling skills, superb ball control, speed, and pinpoint crossing. Both also play as wingers or strikers.
