Wesley Sneijder to Manchester United: The Perfect Transfer?

Wesley Sneijder 516419a Wesley Sneijder to Manchester United: The Perfect Transfer? It just seems so perfect. As Ryan Giggs ages, Paul Scholes loses a step, Owen Hargreaves moves on from the club after a few injury plagued seasons, and Anderson / Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher lacking the attacking ability to put up ‘Lampard’ or ‘Fabregas’ style statistics from the centre of the park, Wesley Sneijder could be the perfect transfer.

Manchester United are in prime position to win the Premier League and/or Champions League this season but they have struggled to create goals in recent weeks – and while they have superb wide players (Nani, Valencia, and JS Park) and an embarrassment of riches up front with Berbatov, Hernandez, and Rooney – what they do lack is that #10 who can split a defence open with a perfect pass or strike from long distance.

Wesley Sneijder can do all of that. If he’s at Old Trafford next season, you have to think Sir Alex Ferguson’s men are title contenders once again – regardless of how Manchester City or Chelsea spend their money…

Couldn´t agree more. For a number of years, the central midfield have been lacking (apart from Giggs), and is nowhere near the levels of the past: Keane, young Scholes, even Veron though he had some problems with the English game, yourself, Robson and Ince, etc .

United have since 2006 compensated with exceptional wingers such as Ronaldo, but I remember seeing Carrick against Xavi/Iniesta a couple of years back in the final, and they totally destoyed him. This year it has been so obvious that the central midfield is inferior, the way the competition is allowed to dominate larger parts of the games – especially away games.

Last but not least. One great midfield “warrior” and one great playmaker would make it a lot more fun to watch United as well….

I’d like to see them buy Sneijder, really I would. That’ll be another forty million plus to throw on their pile of endless debt, which is gonna blow up sooner or later.

  3. Manelele says:

Utd really needs to add some top quality to that poor midfield. They need a young Scholes and one or two more midfielders. I think João Moutinho from Porto would be even better than Wesley. They are obviouslly two diferent kind of players, but I think Utd needs a guy like him. Just watch Porto playing against Villareal next thursday for Europa League and see the top quality of players like Falcao, Moutinho, Hulk, Guarin, Varela… By the way, I think the way Utd is playing, FC Porto is stronger than them – I support Benfica and hate Porto but they are toooooooo strong. Whatch Moutinho.

Wesley is what Utd needs. Not only, but also.

Also I love how they’ve spend thereabouts sixty million on Anderson, Carrick and Hargreaves and they aren’t good enough. All ridiculously expensive failures, and now they need to buy Sneijder, apparently.
