Sunderland are at home this weekend against Fulham without a fit striker in their first team. That’s the bad news.
The good news? Fulham have been poor on their travels this season.
No Gyan. No Welbeck. No Frazier Campbell. All injured.
Enter Fantasy Premier League out of position striker (classified as a midfielder in the game) Stephane Sessegnon. The short Beninese footballer and former PSG attacker is actually a midfielder but was deployed up front after injuries to Gyan and others last weekend. He performed well and linked up with Steed Malbranque decently in the second half.
An additional bonus is the fact that it seems Sessegnon may now be on penalties after he converted one against Wigan.
Only 5.8M and owned by only 0.1% of fantasy managers, he only has 1 goal (none from open play) in 10 appearances for Sunderland. Zero bonus points. Hardly a form player.
That said, Fulham have not won a game on the road in 2011. The entire year. Their last road win came at the tail end of 2010 at Stoke. Furthermore, Sunderland’s remaining 3 games after Fulham? Bolton, Wolves, and West Ham.
Yup, you read that correctly. Simple and easy fixtures to end the season. Penalty kick duty. And a 5.8M pricetag for a striker classified as a midfielder. Look for 1-2 goals before season’s end for Sessegnon.
