Euro 2012 qualifying is underway and now we cross our fingers and hope none of our Premier League assets come back injured…
England play Bulgaria in a few hours – and here is my predicted England Starting XI:
Ibracadabra’s predicted England team vs Bulgaria – Hart, Johnson, Upson, Dawson, Cole, Walcott, Barry, Gerrard (C), A Johnson, Rooney, Defoe.
Looks pretty solid to me. Jagielka is also being considered for a CB position (instead of Upson or Dawson) but his ankle took a knock during Everton’s last game so he could miss out.
Bulgaria will be led by Bolton winger Martin Petrov and Aston Villa central midfielder Stylian Petrov. Dimitar Berbatov has taken a leave from the national team after kidnap threats to his family. [Good news for Manchester United - he'll be fresh to take on Everton - bad news for Bulgaria and world football in general.] The Bulgarians will be tough opponents but I expect a narrow England win: 2 – 1 or 3 – 1 seem decent scorelines. A 2 goal margin is likely.
