Manchester United are interested in Arsenal striker Robin van Persie according to reports in the British media.
I’ve written a ton about RvP this year – in February – I asked if he was the “Next Ronaldo,” and more recently just a few weeks ago – I profiled RvP’s strange love for drinking porridge through a straw – a regimen he believes will help ease his injury worries. And now, it looks like Manchester United are interested in the incredibly skillful 25-year old – just another excuse for me to drool over the Dutchman’s brilliant skill bagging buckets of goals (though, judging by the photo above, he doesn’t have the same skill in bagging a WAG.)
So, yeah, it seems that RvP has yet to sign a new contract at the Emirates because he wants the Gunners to spend in the transfer market to fortify the squad. He’s ambitious, and you can’t deny that the lad wants to win, but I really doubt he’ll end up at Manchester United. Stranger things have happened (Robinho to Manchester City) but this one just seems so unlikely.
So, is RvP right? Do Arsenal need to spend to win trophies? Or will they contend for silverware this season with their returning (and healthy) young squad one year wiser / older? Questions for you to ponder whilst I ponder why RvP can’t land a fitter bird.
