“Afonso Alves smoking” “Bar Rafaeli Butt” (more than once) “Cristiano Ronaldo Butt” (more than once) “Fernando Torres Butt” (do you sense a theme here?)
And perhaps the greatest search ever: “Haiku about butts”
Perhaps you should slip in a few posts along the lines of “Rafa and Mark Hughes Are Useless Boobs”, or something about players who cover their balls are pussies. Millions of hits guaranteed!
I’m not too disappointed about the Hull goal. I did lose clean sheets for both Paintsil and Schwarzer, but they have another home game against Blackburn and will look to fight back.
My other captain choices – Ronaldo (2) or Lampard (4) won’t outscore Schwarzer, so all in all I am satisfied.
I am very disappointed about this however:
Ireland and Mendy both on the bench with an assist, and clean sheet respectively. (Sorensen also on the bench!)
argh, ronaldo captained, will he ever do anything away from home consistently? is it realli worth keeping him for 14 m. maybe i would be better off selling him and upgrading everywhere else e.g jo to arshavin? dammit i had jagielka on the bench. btw am so glad that fulham lost 1-0 even though i have schwarzer and pantsil (its paintsil!) cuz my cup opponent has captained shwarzer! tense times for Killer Whales FC.
Bonus Points are in – and Robbie Keane doesn’t get a SINGLE point.
This amazes me. How terrible is the bonus point committee? Keane scores a goal and gets 2 assists and no bonus points?
Tim Cahill pulls a “Carlton Cole” this week by picking up 3 BPs in a 0-0 draw.
Someone, anyone – please explain to me how someone who scored a goal and assisted two others gets no bonus points whilst an attacking player gets 3 BPs in a 0-0 draw.
Well, I didn’t watch the games, but stats alone don’t (and shouldn’t) win bonus points. Players get credited with assists (or goals) even if they’re completely unintentional. The most impressive players should get the points, whether they’re on the score sheet or not.
Although Keane with a goal and two assists getting none is somewhat puzzling. He’s normally the “busy” sort of player, who works for his team. (But as I said, I didn’t watch the game.)
On a side note: I (finally) drop Ireland, and he (finally) shows up again. Gee, didn’t see that one coming from a mile away. Still, Cahill got a nice 6 points himself, so I can live with it.
And finally, I’ll just take the liberty of patting myself on the back for “wasting” 4 points to pick up Keane at the last minute (for Bellamy.)
Now, if Mr. Schwarzer would kindly not have another 2 point game (after having his first at home since mid November!) then I might even get my captain selection right. Not gonna take any miracles to beat Lamps/CRon…
I warned you guys against dropping Ireland in the preview post this week.
Brought in Keane myself (no – 4 hit, just a straight swap for Bellamy as I had $ in the bank) but still benched two 8 pt scorers (Ireland and Sorensen) and a 6 pt scorer – Mendy – so sort of “mixed feelings” this week…
I hope Keane continues his streak against Sunderland but am still very puzzled by the 3 BPs awarded to Cahill and Ronaldo – judging by match reports.
The rules of the fantasy premier league say that players who receive bonus have “affected the outcome of the game” – and so how can Cahill (playing as a 2nd striker) affect a game that ends in a nil-nil draw?
Unless he hit the post 3 times and was a nuisance for 90 minutes (again, judging by match report only, I don’t think he did or was) then does he really deserve 3?
OK, just noticed that the Yahoo fantasy stats are in. According to that, Ronaldo won 2 corners and 1 foul (for a grand total of 2.5 points.) That’s it. No goals, no assists, no shots on target, no crosses, no tackles, no interceptions, no blocked shots.
The three best performing players in each match will receive additional bonus points. Three points will be awarded to the best player, two to the second best and a single point to the third.
Player performance is assessed by Press Association analysts, all of whom are ex-professional footballers, who attend each match. This assessment takes into account the quality of a player’s overall performance and their contribution to the match result.
while Ireland had a good showing, I’m content with my Lennon addition in his place… though I wish it had been for Michael “Car-wreck” instead… err maybe that shouldve been C.Ron’s nickname…
straight red to Carlton Cole?! along with RVP and Craig “Bailed-on-me”… my strikers are a who’s who of fantasy duds this week… and wtf happened to Vedran Charlie?!
I was wondering the same thing about Charlie Corluka! He had started EVERY SINGLE Premier League game this season.
I guess after 120 minutes in the Carling Cup, he was due a rest. Still, a shocker.
As for Ireland – I really do believe you can’t get much better in the 6.5M to 7M bracket in the long term. Sure, Lennon is on form and Modric/Carrick are at the heart of all things good for their clubs, but Ireland is ALWAYS in the box – and his performance at home has been solid.
I will keep him as a great differentiator the rest of the way as most others are dropping him now. I got him in at 6.1M or 6.2M and I think he is 7M now, so he’s enjoyed quite the run in my side.
Keane not only got two assists but he was crucial in the build up for the second goal which modric assisted….he was lively all night and central to everything good spurs did….Ronaldo didnt deserve 3 bpths nor did cahill….in a 0-0 draw the points should go to defenders liek lescott who was v good….Anyway, keane was robbed….hopefully he tears it up at Sunderland now too…

Haha. Maybe I will.
Rooney and Keane doing the Never Captain Nicky Butt selections very proud.
Modric/Lennon too.
Wtf…fulham…last min…totally disaster.
R.I.P.

Over 20 pts on the bench then…. Yikes

good week Jay-

The bonus points are based on the Actim Index, as far as I know. The FPL doesn’t award the points themselves.
Compared to everyone else on the pitch, Cahill’s stats are certainly fairly impressive. Maybe he simply was the best of an ordinary bunch tonight…
I’m at a loss to explain Ronaldo’s points, and Keane’s lack thereof, though. Maybe CRon put 379 successful crosses in or something. Who knows…

Beats me.
… no interceptions returned for touchdowns, no fumble recoveries, no blocked punts, no heart…
